ABOUT THE LOCATION: Luna County was established on March
16, 1901 and named in honor of Soloman Luna who was a prominent
sheep rancher, businessman and a political figure in New Mexico.
It was part of the area obtained from Mexico by the treaty of
Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1846 and the Gadsden Purchase in 1853. Today
Luna County is a thriving business and agricultural community. It
